This workshop focused more on the use of the SmartLine tool in MicroStation. The tool was used to create surfaces and solids from a line. While learning how to use the SmartLine tool I learnt how to set an origin while drawing which I have found very useful. I also used the SmartLine tool to make irregular shapes like aluminium channel and the steel posts for the balcony rails.

 

Making a surface and solid from a line is something new to me. I have used various modelling software before to create technical drawings and some of them contained tools to create surfaces and solids from lines but this is the first time I have actually understood how the tool can be used to its full extent.

 

This workshop also made it clear that making irregular shapes wouldn't be as difficult as I first assumed when using the SmartLine tool.
